7 projects for 7 years

Welcome to Lucky Fox's new blog series. We're hoping you'll be inspired by our mix of VM analysis, handy tips we've learnt along the way, or things we spot and love just because.

In our first post, we take a quick trip down memory lane to mark our seventh birthday. It's been an incredible journey so far, working with some of the most inspiring established and emerging brands both here in the UK and internationally.

So here goes – seven projects from seven years!
2013 - Harvey Nichols

When Harvey Nichols contacted us with the challenging brief of paint-filled exploding mannequin heads to be featured on each store floor, we jumped at the chance.

In collaboration with Arty Wigs Display, we managed to bring the scheme to life by producing a static explosion of colour bursting from the exploding crowns of each mannequin.

The result was a riot of colour with real fun and impact that remains one of our favourite schemes today!

2014 - Levi's

A clean, bright and minimal space with a laid-back LA feel – that was the brief put to us by Levi’s European PR team for their new PR showroom in Central London.

The Haus of Strauss is where the who’s who from music, movies and TV, as well as stylists and VIP’s, are invited to view the latest Levi’s premium ranges.

Looking back, we don’t think it’s aged one bit.

2015 - made.com

This was a window that made you look. In fact, the scheme still remains our most pinned image on Pinterest to date. Lucky Fox collaborated with MADE.COM to launch their MADE You Look campaign by designing and transforming the brand’s Soho showroom window displays.

Taking inspiration from the various vignettes that are part of the MADE.COM DNA, Lucky Fox designed and created silhouettes of the MADE.COM icons and well-known pieces.

This slightly unconventional way to approach a showroom scheme, having fewer products in the windows, meant that customers could see through into the showroom and all of the innovations inside. Lighting strips and neons were added as a cheeky nod to Soho, and ensured the windows had kerb appeal during the evenings.

  2016 - Asprey

Perhaps one of our favourite Christmas schemes. And it scooped us a few awards, too!

This festive scheme was so much more than just twinkling lights. The beauty of London’s dramatic cityscapes was the inspiration for Asprey’s Christmas window scheme, which we produced and installed. The windows were created with layered lightboxes showcasing still imagery from Asprey’s brand campaign, set against a striking backdrop of London’s most iconic landmarks. The stunning imagery was further enhanced with mirrored acrylic bases in the windows to give the impression of the reflection of lights in the Thames River.

2017 - Pentatonic

Take one emerging and exciting brand, Pentatonic. Add graffti-artist talent, SHOK-1. Then bring them together for a thought-provoking pop-up in Shoreditch. Lucky Fox transformed the 3,000-square-foot empty space in the heart of Shoreditch, East London, into a gallery-style showroom. At its heart was a trash fountain – sculpted from almost a thousand trashed water bottles donated by the then East London musical institution, fabric. Spanning six metres wide across the contemporary retail space, the piece worked as a reminder of the human annual plastic bottle consumption.

2018 - RIBA

This was one of our most ambitious and exciting builds completed for lululemon. The intricate process of art working, engineering and building this gigantic sculpture was colossal and really was a labour of love for the team.

Precision was key to the success of the build. Each of the 21 layers of the sculpture had to be matched up precisely. Furthermore, each of the 21 layers was made up of over 300 pieces of acrylic and foamex – all of which had to be engineered to a particular size to take into account the tiny access space to the windows.

2019 - lululemon

And here we are in 2019 – seven years later! A highlight of the year has to be the Every Run Has A Reason window to coincide with the London Marathon. Lucky Fox created a bespoke 3D model interpretation of London to fill the window of lululemon’s flagship store on Regent Street.

The meticulously designed structure featuring London’s many famous landmarks, including The Shard, London Eye, Gherkin, Millennium Dome and many more, was crafted with high-density foam using a poly carving technique. Working within the confines of a tiny access space to the window, the 3D model had to be methodically pieced together, much like an enormous puzzle.
